Tips for Packing Your Balikbayan Box

How to send a package via Sea Cargo to the Philippines:

• Call us at 1-877-726-4592 and book an appointment for a pick-up schedule.
• You can also drop off your Kapamilya Kargo balikbayan box yourself, located at 24601 Raymond Way Suite 11B, Lake Forest, California 92630
• Our store office is from Monday to Friday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Saturday & Sunday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
• Notify our Kapamilya associate that you will be dropping off boxes to the Philippines via Sea Cargo.

Packing your balikbayan box efficiently can save space and ensure the safety of your items. Here are some tips to help you pack like a pro:

• Choose the Right Box Size: Select a box that comfortably fits your items with enough space for packing material around them. If you don’t have a balikbayan box, you can buy our jumbo boxes.
• Wrap Individual Items: Wrap each item separately with bubble wrap or foam sheets to protect them from impact during transit.
• Layer Packing Material: Line the bottom of the box with packing peanuts or crumpled paper for cushioning.
• Arrange Items Strategically: Place heavier items on the bottom and lighter, more fragile items on top. Ensure there is no empty space between items
• Securely Close the Box: After the box has been packed, use packing tape to seal all seams and close the openings. To guarantee the box’s integrity, reinforce the corners and seams.
• Label the Box Clearly: Clearly write the destination address and your return address on the top and sides of the box. Incorporate any pertinent customs information, such as the value and contents.
• Fragile Items Protection: To ensure the safety of fragile items during shipping, it is recommended that they be double-boxed. Insert the inner box containing fragile items into a larger box that is surrounded by packaging material.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER DURING PACKING:

• Make sure the packages do not show bulging.
• Make sure the Packing List appropriately notes the contents of the boxes.
• Make sure the boxes have security tapes and seals applied to them.
